Exomad Green and Supercritical ink 500,000-tonne biochar deal

Exomad Green, a producer of biochar carbon removal by volume, and carbon marketplace Supercritical have announced a major three-year agreement for up to 500,000 tonnes of durable carbon removal. The deal secures the remainder of Exomad Green’s 2026 inventory and establishes forward allocations through to 2028, all certified under the Puro.earth methodology.

The partnership comes as the carbon removal sector faces a tightening supply of high-quality, operational credits. With many corporate buyers now looking to meet 2026–2030 climate targets, demand is increasingly concentrating on proven projects capable of immediate delivery rather than future promises.

To date, Exomad Green has produced more than 320,000 tonnes of durable carbon removal, achieving a 200 per cent year-on-year expansion in production. This operational reliability has made its credits a highly sought-after resource in a market where early-stage projects often face execution gaps.

“The carbon removal market is maturing,” said Diego Justiniano, CEO of Exomad Green. “We’ve delivered over 320,000 tonnes, and this agreement puts that operational capacity into the market where buyers need it most — verified, near-term supply. Not a future promise, but tonnes available today.”

Supercritical, which has now facilitated nearly 2 million tonnes of removal across various pathways including direct air capture and mineralisation, noted that the agreement addresses a critical need for certainty.

“The market is moving from promise to performance, and performance requires supply you can count on this year,” added Michelle You, CEO of Supercritical. “This agreement provides immediate access to high-quality, near-term supply from the leading biochar producer in the world.”
