Aviva Investors, the asset management arm of Aviva plc, has appointed two senior executives to its Equities division as part of a broader structural consolidation across its active and index capabilities.
Luciano Lilloy joins the firm from Impax Asset Management to fill the newly created role of Head of Sustainable Equities. In this position, Lilloy will lead the development of the firm’s sustainable equity platform and serve as a named Portfolio Manager on the Global Climate Equity Strategy.
Duncan Bulgin joins from GAM Investments as Head of Equity Research, bringing over two decades of analyst and portfolio management experience from GAM and Newton Investment Management. In addition to leading equity research, Bulgin will oversee global commodities research.
Bulgin succeeds Max Burns, who is set to retire later this year following a phased transition. Burns joined Aviva Investors in 2016 and was appointed Head of Equity Research in 2022. As part of the leadership transition:
- Portfolio Management Realignment: Harsharan Mann has been named Co-Portfolio Manager of the Global Core Strategy, while Luciano Lilloy assumes Burns’s former portfolio management duties on the Global Climate Equity Strategy.
- Unified Leadership Structure: Aviva Investors has consolidated its entire equities offering under a single management framework. The Index Investments team will integrate directly into the Equities business under the leadership of Nicholette MacDonald-Brown, Global Head of Active Equities.
Nicholette MacDonald-Brown, Global Head of Active Equities at Aviva Investors, stated: “We’re thrilled to welcome Luciano and Duncan to the firm. We’re very excited to begin working with them both to further evolve our Equity offering, to ensure we are providing the best possible solutions and outcomes for our clients. Luciano and Duncan both bring with them vast industry experience and knowledge that will complement the existing expertise within portfolio management and research teams.”
MacDonald-Brown added: “We want to thank Max Burns for his significant contribution to the Aviva Investors Equity team over the last decade and wish him all the best in retirement. Whilst we’re sad to see him leave, we’re equally happy to see Harsharan Mann assume Portfolio Management responsibilities for the Global Core Strategy, which reflects her development and growing contribution to the team.”
