Nestlé has entered into a four-year agreement with Soil Capital to accelerate the adoption of regenerative agriculture across the UK, France, and Belgium. The partnership is designed to provide farmers with technical expertise, digital monitoring tools, and financial incentives directly linked to verified environmental improvements.
The initiative focuses on a diverse portfolio of core crops, including wheat, corn, barley, and sugar beet. By leveraging Soil Capital’s platform, participating farms will receive bespoke agronomic support while the system verifies improvements in soil health, practice changes, and carbon emissions performance.
“We want to back farmers with the tools, science and market continuity to drive change, not by just asking them to take on risk,” said Anita Wälz, Head of Sustainability at Nestlé Europe. “We’re investing in the long-term health of our supply base, strengthening resilience, and focusing on soil.”
The programme utilizes a sophisticated Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) system that integrates satellite imagery with field-level data. This enables Nestlé to track carbon sequestration and soil health with precision, providing the robust metrics required for Scope 3 emissions reporting and supply chain transparency.
Chuck de Liedekerke, CEO of Soil Capital, noted that the collaboration rewards farmers for outcomes society urgently needs. “It’s progress you can measure, built on trust, and delivered at scale,” he added.
Expanding upon successful pilots in France and the UK, the initiative now includes Belgium, supporting nearly 230 farmers across 13,000 hectares—an area exceeding the size of Paris. Bernard Louet, a French farmer participating in the scheme, commented that the support is “bringing more life” to his soil.
