Envision Energy has received a Notice to Proceed (NTP) from renewable developer Neoen for the turbine supply and installation package of the 179MW Narrogin Wind Farm in Western Australia.
The project will feature 23 of Envision’s EN182-7.8 MW smart wind turbines. Standing with a hub height of 155 metres and a rotor diameter of 182 metres, these units represent the largest wind turbines ever deployed in Australia. Once operational, the facility will generate enough electricity to power roughly 100,000 homes, supplying around 3% of the total annual demand for Western Australia’s South West Interconnected System (SWIS).
The Narrogin development is Envision’s second major Australian wind contract secured over the past 12 months, following an initial project in the Pilbara region. Crucially, Narrogin will serve as Envision’s first grid-connected client wind farm in the country, integrating directly into Western Power’s existing 220kV transmission line.
Envision will handle the supply, delivery, installation, and commissioning of the turbines alongside construction partners UGL and CPB Contractors, both members of the CIMIC Group. Additionally, Envision has signed a 30-year Operations and Maintenance (O&M) agreement with Neoen to oversee long-term asset performance.
The deployment forms part of Envision’s broader approach to regional expansion, combining hardware with digital management platforms to improve grid integration and energy reliability.
Kane Xu, Senior Vice President and President of International Product Line at Envision Energy, highlighted that the energy transition requires intelligent energy infrastructure alongside expanding generation, noting that Australia remains a key strategic market for the business.
Peter Cowling, Head of Wind at Envision Energy Australia, added that the project allows the team to showcase its technology while expanding partnerships locally alongside UGL and CPB Contractors.
Speaking on behalf of the developer, Jean-Christophe Cheylus, Neoen’s Regional CEO for Australia Pacific, expressed appreciation for the support from host landowners, local communities, the Gnaala Karla Booja Aboriginal Corporation, Synergy, and the Government of Western Australia as construction gets underway on Neoen’s first wind farm on the west coast.
