Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, GIC, has appointed De Rui Wong as its new Head of Sustainability. In his new capacity, Wong will lead the firm’s dedicated Sustainability Office, driving research and developing strategic investment solutions designed to manage long-term environmental and social risks across GIC’s global portfolio.
Wong, who previously served as Senior Vice President within the Sustainability Office, brings extensive experience across macro strategy, equity analysis, and sustainable finance. He rejoined GIC in 2019 and has been instrumental in shaping the sovereign wealth fund’s sustainability agenda since the establishment of its Sustainability Office in 2022.
Outlining his strategic vision following the appointment, Wong emphasised key investment priorities, including navigating the energy transition where economic fundamentals remain strong, scaling climate adaptation and resilience opportunities, and proactively managing physical climate risks. He highlighted that addressing structural forces such as climate change requires conviction, strategic clarity, and forward-looking capital allocation to safeguard asset value and capture emerging opportunities.
