Moeve hosts inaugural accelerator Demo Day to scale clean tech and digital solutions

Spanish energy company Moeve hosted the inaugural Demo Day for its corporate startup accelerator, Moeve light up, at its global headquarters in Madrid.

During the event, ten emerging technology firms presented the outcomes of year-long pilot projects developed in direct collaboration with Moeve’s business and innovation units.

The accelerator program launched following an open call in March 2025 that attracted over 500 applications. The selected startups validated their technologies within real-world operational environments across Moeve’s assets.

Startups presenting commercial and technical solutions during the Demo Day included:

  • Biofuels & green molecules: Kanara (lipid production via plant cell cultures), Nium (nano-catalyst green ammonia generation), Phycobloom (engineered algae feedstocks), and Woza Labs (geospatial fuel supply chain management).
  • Decarbonisation & clean tech: Emissium (regional power grid carbon reporting), Solaris Vita (agrivoltaic organic solar integration), and Water Challenge (industrial wastewater recovery).
  • AI & operational digitalisation: CicerAI (contractual legal AI), Sensei (autonomous service station retail), and Visualfy (workplace accessibility and safety alerting).

Depending on solution maturity, high-potential projects will transition into commercial implementation with Moeve’s corporate divisions, while early-stage technologies will undergo further refinement under the guidance of the company’s innovation team.

Maarten Wetselaar, Chief Executive Officer of Moeve, stated that partnering with clean tech and deep science startups is central to the company’s 2030 Positive Motion strategy, which aims to accelerate industrial decarbonisation and customer-facing mobility solutions.

Moeve confirmed that planning is underway for the second edition of the Moeve light up accelerator program. Since establishing its open innovation framework, the energy group has evaluated over 2,000 technology initiatives, targeting alliances with more than 100 strategic partners.
