ZeroAvia has been awarded a $4.2 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) through its Fuelling Aviation’s Sustainable Transition (FAST Tech) discretionary grant programme for Low-Emission Aviation Technology. This grant is designated for enhancing and refining ZeroAvia’s electric propulsion systems for 2–5-megawatt powertrain applications.
The research and development work will be carried out at ZeroAvia’s propulsion centre of excellence in Everett, WA. The team will focus on advancing the design, fabrication, and testing of the company’s proprietary electric motor and inverter. This project extends ZeroAvia’s previous achievements with its HyperCore stackable motor and silicon-carbide inverters, already tested at this facility.
