NBIM commits €1.2bn to CIP’s flagship renewable energy fund

Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM) has committed €1.2 billion to Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners’ (CIP) sixth flagship renewable energy fund, CI VI.

The commitment agreement, signed on 1 October 2026, expands the sovereign wealth fund manager’s ongoing partnership with CIP. NBIM previously allocated €900 million to CIP’s predecessor fund, CI V, in 2024.

The CI VI fund will focus primarily on development-stage investments targeting green energy generation and energy storage infrastructure across OECD markets in North America, Western Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.

Harald von Heyden, Global Head of Energy and Infrastructure at Norges Bank Investment Management, stated that the allocation enables the fund to maintain exposure to early-stage renewable energy development while deepening its existing co-investment framework with CIP.

NBIM manages Norway’s Government Pension Fund Global, which continues to expand its direct unlisted infrastructure portfolio in support of global decarbonisation and transition targets.
