Singapore and Brazil have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish the Singapore-Brazil Green and Digital Shipping Corridor (GDSC), aiming to accelerate decarbonisation and digitalisation across international maritime trade routes.
The agreement was signed by Singapore’s Minister for Transport, Jeffrey Siow, and Brazil’s Minister of Ports and Airports, Tomé Franca. The bilateral partnership is structured to leverage Brazil’s renewable energy resources and zero-emission fuel production capabilities alongside Singapore’s position as the world’s largest bunkering hub and maritime innovation centre.
Under the framework of the GDSC, both nations will collaborate with private sector partners to develop supply chains for zero- and near-zero greenhouse gas emission marine fuels.
In addition to fuel infrastructure, the agreement outlines plans for digital information exchanges to streamline port operations and maritime logistics. Both countries will also jointly support research, development, and commercial adoption of emerging maritime technologies.
