Trinasolar to supply NSW’s first green hydrogen and ammonia facility

Solar technology manufacturer Trinasolar has been chosen to supply photovoltaic modules for the Good Earth Green Hydrogen and Ammonia (GEGHA) project in New South Wales, Australia. Located near Moree, the development represents the state’s first integrated green hydrogen and ammonia production facility.

The project’s dedicated 27MW solar farm will deploy Trinasolar’s 510W and 515W Vertex S+ modules. The equipment features n-type i-TOPCon technology combined with a heat-strengthened dual-glass structure, chosen to ensure long-term durability and minimise light-induced degradation in regional environmental conditions.

Construction of the facility is currently in progress. Once operational, GEGHA is projected to generate up to 200 tonnes of green hydrogen and 4,500 tonnes of low-carbon ammonia each year, aiming to substitute imported fossil-fuel-derived fertilisers and lower emissions across the domestic agricultural sector.

Edison Zhou, Head of Australia and New Zealand at Trinasolar, highlighted that the project underscores the expanding role of solar power in powering adjacent green industries. Joe Cumming, Senior Project Manager at Hiringa Energy, added that reliable solar output and proven module durability were vital criteria for establishing a scalable, decentralised production model for regional Australia.
