Apave expands sustainability services with acquisition of AXA Climate’s training arm

Apave, the international technical, environmental, and digital risk management group, has announced the acquisition of Climate School, the dedicated climate change training division of AXA Climate.

The transaction follows several years of collaboration between the two entities and aims to strengthen the capabilities of Apave Impact, the group’s specialized sustainability subsidiary.

Established in 2021 in Paris, Climate School specializes in raising employee awareness regarding sustainable transition challenges. Comprising a team of more than 50 professionals, the company services over 250 corporate accounts globally, including more than half of France’s CAC 40 index. Its digital and hybrid training modules have reached an estimated 8 million employees worldwide.

The division’s training catalog is published in nine languages and includes specialized modules such as:

  • Net Zero School: Programs designed for decarbonizing high-emission sectors.
  • Green HR: Frameworks tailored for human resources leadership.
  • Bespoke Consultancy: Executive briefings and interactive workshops focused on climate-driven corporate adaptation.

The acquisition aligns with Apave’s AMPLIFY 2030 strategic framework, which focuses on scaling the group’s global footprint in industrial, operational, and climate-related risk management.

Prior to the acquisition, Climate School had worked with Apave since 2023 to deliver sustainable transition training to Apave’s own workforce of 18,500 employees. The integration is expected to create immediate commercial synergies, allowing Apave Impact to manage corporate transitions from early-stage employee training through to operational engineering solutions.

Philippe Maillard, CEO of the Apave Group, noted that the addition of the Climate School team will enhance the organization’s ability to support complex decarbonization and sustainability projects for its clients.

Company leaders indicated that the partnership reflects an evolving market demand that extends beyond standard carbon reduction strategies.

Antoine Poincaré, Managing Director of Climate School, stated that joining Apave allows the business to focus more acutely on reducing corporate exposure to direct climate hazards, utilizing Apave’s core engineering and risk management background to design training focused on climate change adaptation.

AXA Climate Chairman and CEO Antoine Denoix expressed that the transition validates the firm’s model of incubating and developing profitable enterprises within the climate and environmental adaptation markets.
