Novata launches AI-powered platform to tackle supply chain sustainability tracking

Sustainability management platform Novata has unveiled a new specialized solution aimed at transforming how organizations track environmental and social governance data across their supply networks. The newly launched platform, named Novata for Supply Chains, seeks to replace fragmented, spreadsheet-heavy monitoring processes with a single, audited digital workflow designed to offer complete transparency into supplier networks.

The new software targets the historic challenges faced by sustainability and procurement teams, who frequently grapple with inconsistent methodologies and incomplete information. By standardising the reporting process, the platform aims to provide investors and corporations with a connected, reliable view of carbon emissions and broader sustainability metrics across their entire value chain.

The platform relies heavily on artificial intelligence to streamline operations for both purchasing companies and their vendors. For suppliers, the integrated AI tools facilitate rapid data uploads from internal systems, extract relevant information directly from corporate documents, and automatically address data gaps using extensive benchmarking libraries. For the procurement organizations, the AI technology is designed to highlight risk signals from specialist providers, map out evolving regulatory duties, and convert complex sustainability inputs into practical commercial insights.

Beyond technological automation, the system includes built-in engagement tools that allow buyers to track supplier submissions in real time, collaborate on entries directly within the platform, and maintain a rigorous audit trail. Novata’s dedicated advisory experts will also work alongside companies to translate dashboard analytics into broader corporate strategies.

Alex Friedman, Co-Founder and Co-Chief Executive at Novata, noted that supply chain sustainability metrics have evolved into a critical source of operational and financial intelligence. He stated that the new launch helps businesses move past manual collection methods toward a structured system that enhances risk management and corporate decision-making.

Addressing the administrative strain placed on vendors, Meredith Binder, Chief Product Officer and Chief Marketing Officer at Novata, highlighted that suppliers are frequently overwhelmed by multiple, inconsistent sustainability requests. She emphasised that providing structured, repeatable workflows dramatically improves supplier participation rates and significantly boosts final data quality.

The launch of the tool builds upon Novata’s ongoing collaboration with Microsoft, which has focused on streamlining the technology giant’s own supplier sustainability data collection to ensure more consistent and auditable reporting processes.
